I am a nature-based artist, photographer, and lifelong explorer of the small, the sacred, and the often-overlooked. My work invites people to slow down, look closer, and remember that magic lives in the details—in the curve of a twig, the shimmer of a dewdrop, the quiet architecture of a beetle’s trail.

Build Wild grew from this love of wild wonder and a desire to reconnect people with the natural world through hands-on, imaginative play. I believe in building with what the earth already offers us—sticks, moss, leaves, bark—and in doing so, rebuilding something inside ourselves too.

Like many others, my desire to create stems from a strong desire to anchor the fluid imagery of the inner mind into physical reality. My journey through life has been a profound exploration of the duality between the developed world and the natural world.

I’ve enjoyed exploring nature from a scientific understanding and exploring creation from an understanding of nature. In my mind the two live harmoniously and feed off of one another churning new ideas.

A personal passion is taking these direct experiences that we live in the first person, and turn them into miniatures so we can experience in the third person. Mostly these are gifts and mementos made for loved ones, but I derive a deep sense of joy and fulfillment in being able to capture the essence of a moment into a scene.

Christie Metoyer

I’m Christie Metoyer (she/her), an artist and writer, amongst many more identities, and I am based in colorful Colorado. My work is inspired by time spent outdoors hiking, foraging, and noticing the quiet beauty in what is often overlooked. I’m drawn to natural oddities and forgotten objects, especially those that tell quiet stories about the world we share with nature. Using reclaimed and natural materials, I create art that explores both the strength and fragility of the environment and our place within it. My creative process is rooted in care, curiosity and a commitment to sustainability and accessibility within nature. Through my work, I hope to spark wonder, encourage reflection, and inspire a deeper connection to the ecosystems we’re all part of.
